Markets and Abstracts

This past weekend I had the priviledge of participating in an amazing market here in Jacksonville. The Markets for Makers only comes a few times a year and is a pretty big deal! It was held in the historic Glass Factory building downtown, where exposed brick walls, hundred year old wooden floors, and antique glass window panes created the perfect backdrop for the 90 amazing vendors participating.

My market booth set up

I knew I wanted to feature my abstract rock pigment paintings. I also wanted to showcase to people just how involved the process was for creating these pieces. I decided to have a video playing on a loop showing the process of choosing, breaking down, and creating paints from the rocks used for the art pieces being offered. Using a large computer monitor and portable battery pack (electrical outlets were limited at this venue) I was able to do just that! I’ve loaded the video for you all to see!

The market was a huge success! It was wonderful being able to interact with and connect with different people visiting from all over. I sold out of nearly all my market inventory but have been hard at work creating a few additional pieces to offer to those of you unable to attend in person. I will have these ready by this Friday November 26th! You will be able to find those here.

Until next time! Oh, and if you haven’t already, sign up below for my newsletter to be alerted when I post my next journal entry.

Xo,

Chanell Joy
